Gwen was born in 1991 to a family of musicians in Tucson, Arizona. She began studying the violin at age 4, and picked up the double bass at 12. Gwen is a graduate of the Manhattan School of Music (BMus) and spent four years performing across the five boroughs in a variety of venues, including WQXR’s Greene Space, ShapeShifter Lab in Brooklyn, the John C. Borden auditorium, and the Stern Auditorium Perlman Stage at Carnegie Hall.
Gwen continued her education in 2014 at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London, completing an MPerf (with distinction) in 2016 under the tutelage of Colin Paris. Since moving to London, Gwen has become actively involved in the new music community, performing regularly with internationally acclaimed new music ensemble Ensemble x.y in venues across London, as well as in new music festivals in Russia, Germany, and Armenia. Gwen is also successful in the more traditional realm of chamber music, working regularly with the Silk Street Sinfonia and Ensemble Nova Luce both in London and abroad.
When not running from gig to gig, Gwen is an expert baker, cinephile, bookworm, and amateur calligraphist.
